Scope and Contents

Contains materials related to the life and activities of Kane. These consist primarily of a series of composition books and two letters. The composition books contain mostly letters written by Harriet to her mother, father, and others, but later volumes include medical notes. The letters concern family matters, and a purchase made by a friend on Harriet's behalf. Materials date between 1870 and 1891.

Scope and Contents Contains materials relating to the life and activities of John K. Kane and his wife, Jane Duval Leiper Kane. Among these are a book of letters written by them addressed to Elizabeth Kane, a pocketbook belonging to him, and a set of newspaper clippings found within the book of letters. The letters contain personal advice and correspondence. The pocketbook contains notes relating to a dispute he was adjudicating as part of his service as Judge of the U.S. District Court at Philadelphia. The...
